Experts agree student engagement is vital to the success of the educational process. With engagement at an all-time low across the nation, the need for real-time quantifiable data is imperative to better assess student participation inside and outside the classroom. With accurate data, schools can make informed decisions that fuel better outcomes within the school and community.

With Better Insight, Everyone Benefits
Passport for good provides the tools necessary to measure the impact student engagement has within the school and community. With better insight, everyone benefits.

- Drives better student outcomes by providing more diverse and inclusive opportunities for ALL students to contribute, learn, and find purpose.
- Allows resources to be better allocated into activities and programs that students actually enjoy.
- Streamlines the administrative tasks of recording service hours by eliminating the use of paper forms.

Why Student Engagement Matters
Now more than ever, student engagement matters. As students embark on their post-pandemic school journey, engagement levels are at an all-time low. Educators have been almost entirely focused on health, safety, and keeping students connected through remote learning, and as a result, community service, extracurricular activities, and career development have become harder to administer. The impact? A disengaged student body.
What does a disengaged student look like?
- Low achievement
- Poor attendance
- Boredom
- Alienation
- Increased risk of dropping out
By not addressing the issues of student engagement, students are left feeling unmotivated and unrecognized. Educators feel less empowered and as a result, inequity prevails. Without change, the cycle continues.
Student Engagement Fuels Student Success
Traditionally, engagement has been measured by academic progress (i.e. grades, test scores, report cards, etc). While it’s important to measure the academic success of a student, focusing solely on academics misses the mark on the social & emotional impact of a student’s scholastic journey which is becoming an increasingly important metric of the whole child educational experience.
According to a 2018 Gallup Study, “Engaged students are 2.5 times more likely to say that they get excellent grades and do well in school, and they are 4.5 times more likely to be hopeful about the future than their actively disengaged peers.” Academic performance is directly impacted by student engagement both in and out of the classroom. Student engagement fuels a successful educational journey from the classroom and beyond.

People Are Saying
“As an educator, I value how Passport for Good helps support the mission of my school district to inspire students to “…exhibit strength of character and contribute positively to a global society.” It has offered our students and their families a way to record contributions and participation in activities and community service in a way that celebrates achievements and motivates goal setting. Students remain engaged due to the transparency of these cumulative records. They gain a sense of pride as they see their service hours grow, representing their willingness to give back to their communities selflessly. As a parent, I can see how this platform can potentially offer families a clear mode of communication between home and school to encourage community involvement that fosters a child’s interests, school engagement, and well-being.”

“Passport For Good took our digital portfolio idea and turned it into a new, student-friendly component called the P.A.S.S. Module (Projects Activities and Skills). This new feature allows students to capture and showcase their projects and activities in a digital portfolio while identifying critical skills being utilized each day.”
